A dynamic project to design a new roof to replace the existing tired and failing flat roof located above the central open plan living accommodation that links the two flanking wings of a detached rural home.
Each wing has its own independent pyramidal hipped roof and the challenge was to design a single roof structure, which enhanced the property aesthetically and provided a visual focus to the central glazed sun room that overlooks the open garden; Rectory and water meadows beyond, without bisecting the large open plan living/ dining and day accommodation below because of the substantial steel columns and beams required to support the new roof.
